The Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) Queensland Chapter conducted its maiden  Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Activity on 25th June 2017 at the Brisbane City Council (BCC) library meeting room, Mount Ommaney. Two Seniors Managers from Queensland Transport and Main Roads Department, Mallika Dayananda and Gamini Siriwardana were the co-presenters and they shared their knowledge and experience with Queensland based Sri Lankan Engineers delivering an insightful narrative on their first hand engagement with the recently completed Brisbane Riverside Expressway Major Rehabilitation Project highlighting Challenges and Opportunities encountered. The event was attended by 30 Engineers and was an immense success eliciting a lively discussion among the participants. The Management Committee of the Chapter takes this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the event, 4EB Sri Lankan Radio Group for media coverage and BCC for their continued support.

Mallika Dyananda

Mallika Dyananda is a Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka and Engineers Australia who works for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in Queensland. She has previously worked in Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Melbourne before joining the TMR as a Project Manager. She delivered TMR’s Mains Road/Kessels Road Intersection Upgrade with more than $100 million savings before she took over the delivery of TMR’s Riverside Expressway Rehabilitation project.
