As a civil engineer, he specialises in tailings management and civil engineering infrastructure, with a focus on the design and construction of tailings dams and mining project infrastructure.

Nimal Perera served as an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology and was a practicing civil and structural engineer. He was the principal consultant and owner of Kasina Consultants. With over 50 years of industry experience, Nimal has made significant contributions to numerous successful infrastructure projects around the world.

Shellie McDonald currently serves as the Acting General Manager of Engineering Talent at Engineers Australia. With over 15 years of experience, she specialises in fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, including government bodies, businesses, educational institutions, and other professional organisations.
